Artists

The roll call of talent that has appeared at the Harbour Party reflects our pursuit of the latest and greatest, brightest and best of the world dance music scene.  With a mix of leading headliners, up and coming phenoms and fan favourites, this years line-up is no different.  With the growing number of homegrown heroes breaking through on the international stage, we didn’t have to look too far to find who was making a ruckus in 09.

Leading the new line-up additions is UK dancefloor don Sinden, who is set to open a can of b’more baile funk hip hop electro powerpop on the Harbour Party NYE.  Joining him will be “Guys Gone Wild” regulars Hey Now, Bris Vegas boy wonder Sampology will be bringing his Super Visual Disco Party harbourside and Miss Sosueme 2009 and general party princess Alison Wonderland will be taking you for a trip down the rabbit hole for one hell of a tea party.

Pendulum [DJ Set] - Album Preview Tour

Pendulum [DJ Set]

After dominating the European festival circuit in 2009, the Pendulum juggernaut continues to roll on, devastating all in its path. Pendulum, Australia’s favourite sons of broken beat sonic mayhem, are set to return to Australia in 2009 to present their first ever DJ set performance featuring all 3 of the group’s original members.  Having spent a second summer as the defining band of the international festival circuit (including phenomenal receptions from crowds at Glastonbury, Download, V, Isle of Wight and T in the Park festivals), Pendulum have recently gone back into the studio to work on their third album that will include some truly exciting collaborations. The first material to emerge from these sessions will be unveiled at the end of the year in the group’s first ever DJ set tour that sees all Rob, Gareth and El Hornet take the stage with MC Verse to ‘preview’ material from their highly anticipated third studio album. Australian audiences will be the first on earth to sample material from Pendulum’s next studio album, while also witnessing their first ever DJ set performance featuring the groups original line up, in a no holds barred aural assault. Witness the unstoppable tour de force that is Pendulum, as they tear up Australia in 2009.

Ian Carey [USA]

Ian Carey

Winner of the best Dance Video at this year’s MTV awards (protest from Kanye West withstanding), American house music hero Ian Carey will be dropping his signature “funky basslines” to help you get down, down, down, into the new year.

With his hit singles and remixes gracing endless compilations and albums worldwide, his singles ‘Rise’ as one half of the Soul Providers achieving UK Gold record status and ‘Get Shaky’ reaching Australian Double Platinum under The Ian Carey Project moniker, tell you all you need to know about the kind of funk flavoured, house music ride you can expect Harbour side.

Sinden [UK]

Sinden

If getting big upped by Basement Jaxx, Mark Ronson, Armand Van Helden, Bjork, Bonde Do Role and Santigold, isn’t impressive enough, and having label mates that include Franz Ferdinand and The Artic Monkeys, is merely meh, certainly being the co-producer of one of the dancefloor killers of the past 12 months must seal the deal, non ??

Since popping up on hipster radars in 2005, DJ and producer boy wonder Sinden has since proceeded to storm onto playlists, compilations, and festival line-ups with his bouncy blend of b’more, baile funk, hip hop and electro. Responsible for the ridiculously infectious ‘Beeper Song’ with production partner in crime The Count, Sinden will be lighting the Harbour Party dancefloor up with his deep bag of hot hot heat.

Grafton Primary

Grafton Primary

Fully fledged, card holding members of the Aussie new school, indie electro trio Grafton Primary have been keeping themselves very busy of late.  With their contagious synth laden, new wave for a new generation, Grafton Primary’s 2008 break out party saw them live and loud at Big Day Out, Good Vibrations, Playground Weekender, Field Day and Parklife.

With their singles ‘Relativity’ and ‘Allstars’ showcasing the Sydney three piece’s penchant for hypnotic vocals paired with epic electronica, and remixes for Faker, The Dukes of Windsor and Jackson Jackson, see why Grafton Primary are fast becoming festival fixtures when they roll out their epic soundscapes.

Bass Kleph

Bass Kleph

DJ, label owner and general block rocker about town, Bass Kleph is one of the rare producers with the ability to achieve commercial success while still making dancefloor stormers for the underground.

With ‘Helium’ making waves with the Nova nation and the current single ‘Spend My Money’ sitting in the top 10 on the ARIA charts, Bass Kleph brings his wonky basslines and electro hooks to the masses while still releasing underground anthems such as ‘Bump Uglies’ and ’12 Inch Therapy’. Do you really need any more reasons to check Kleph rocking the block??

Lost Valentinos

Lost Valentinos

With a list of collaborators that reads like a roll call of Australian dnace musics most wanted list, the Lost Valentinos are on the verge of breaking out.  With EP's produced by Kim Moyes of The Presets, Pnau's Peter Mayes and Nick Littlemore, also of Empire of the Sun, and their current long player the handiwork of one Ewan Pearson, thats a lot of hip people who think the Lost Valentinos are alright.

This Sydney 5 piece have flexed their carefully crafted psychedelic indie dance sounds at Parklife, Splendour, Falls, V and the Playground weekender and are set to demonstrate why everyone is riding the waves they are making on the international stage.  Don't say we didn't warn you.

Ajax

Ajax

The crown prince of cut and paste returns with his brand of party mash ups which he has regularly used to blow up parties, leaving a trail of heaving dance floors and dazed party people.

With Ed Banger head honcho Busy P and the mighty Digitalism sticking him with their Best DJ tag in 2007 and Justice naming him one to watch for 2008, Ajax has since been focusing on his own ‘Sweat it Out’ label.  With the likes of Gameboy Gamegirl, Edu K, Act Yo Age, Oh Snap and the Killaqueenz represented by the label though, there should be no shortage of dance floor killers in his bag of tricks.

JD Samson [Le Tigre/MEN] [DJ Set] [USA]

JD Samson

Starting off her Le Tigre career as a roadie who manned the slide projector, JD Samson’s undeniable flair and charisma soon made it obvious that she was more suited on stage than next to it.

With their dance punk leanings and their unmistakable tracks ‘Deceptacon’ and ‘TKO’, JD has previously also toured with Peaches as her keyboardist.  JD’s disco tinged, hook filled, punk funk will have your toes tappin and fingers snappin, with your body following not very far behind.

Sampology [Super Visual Disco Party]

Sampology

Bris Vegas boy wonder Sampology will also be bringing his Super Visual Disco Party harbourside.  Think the usual juggling, cutting, scratching and mixing that has seen him as a regular fixture at the Parklife, Good Vibrations, We Love Sounds and BBQ Beats festivals as well as supporting Mixmaster Mike, DJ Shadow, QBert and Roots Manuva, except accompanied by visuals. Pictures that go with the music, I know, far out right?

Hey Now

Hey Now DJs

You coming with?

Hoops

Hoops

Anna Lunoe, Nina Las Vegas and Bad Ezzy are Hoops and just like Captain Planet while they all rock individually when they combine their party powers together, the banging beats and dancing feet will overcome the forces of the chin strokers and head nodders.

These sisters are definitely doing it for themselves with their choice cuts of hip hop beats, Baltimore treats, great grime and just about anything else that will have you “jumping around”, “throwing your hands in the air like you just don’t care” and “liking you better if you slept together”….uh.  This explosive trio are BAD ASS and you just need to check them out, ok.
